How to use webmail to access your email

You will have an email address for your domain and website (e.g. if my domain is neltek.com and website is www.neltek.com, I may have an email of This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

This is great, but how do you read and send emails?

One option is via any web enabled pc or tablet using WebMail.

You can easily access your WebMail interface by just visiting: http://www.yourdomainname.com/webmail, where 'yourdomainname.com' is your actual domain name e.g. http://www.neltek.com/webmail. If this is not working for you, it might be possible that your ISP is blocking the access to non-standard ports loaded through an SSL connection. In this case, please use: http://webmail.am2.siteground.biz.

You will be presented with a login page.

The username is your email address, and the password is your email password.

Once logged in you will see the screen above.

There are a number of options. First Neltek and Siteground Hosting offer 3 different email clients for webmail: Horde, RoundCube and SquirrelMail. They all let you read your email and send emails but look and work slightly differently. Try them out and see which is your favourite!

If you select "Read Mail Using Horde" or "Read Mail Using RoundCube" or "Read Mail Using SquirrelMail", you will use that email program on this occasion to read your email and when you next log in you will get the choice again. If you are happy to use one of the programs and don't want to choose each time, select "[ Enable AutoLoad ]" under the program you want.

Below these three, are options to change your email password, set up forwarding, auto-responders, configure a mail client e.g. Outlook or Apple Mac Email, and Email filtering options.

If you are not sure about some of these please ignore them.

Configuring an Email Client on Your PC

If you decide to use an email client, such as Microsoft Outlook Express, MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird and Eudora, here are the settings you need:

Incoming mail server (POP3/IMAP server): mail.yourdomainname.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP server): mail.yourdomainname.com
Username: the full e-mail address. Example: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. instead of 'you'.
Password: as set up by Neltek or changed via webmail.
SMTP authentication must be enabled for the login to be successful.

You can also use secure authentication to your mail server.

Email ports

  • The POP3 port for inbound emails is 110 (995 if you want to use secured POP3)
  • The IMAP port for inbound emails is 143 (993 if you want to use secured IMAP)
  • The SMTP port for outbound emails is 25 or 2525 (465 if you want to use secured SMTP)

We give each mailbox 200MB of space on the hosting server and each Website Account 1GB of space in total (for website files, database size and email accounts). We therefore recommend you use POP3 to set up your email client as this will download all the email to your PC, keeping the server space free for more emails.

Notes:

  • Outgoing mail is sent using SMTP.
  • We recommend using POP3 over SSL/TLS since they provide increased security for your interactions with the remote mail server.

We will write a tutorial soon on how to integrate your mail with Google's GMAIL, allowing you to read your mail on your PC and your mobile phone or tablet with the ability to see all your historic mail. GMAIL can be set to send mail as if it is coming from your domain email e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Auto Configure Your Mail Client

When you access an email account through a desktop email application such as MacOS® Mail.app® for “Pre Lion” (10.4+), the email application will require specific information about your email account.

You can use the auto-configure options from the webmail login screen - "Configure Mail Client" to attempt to automatically configure your email application.

If the available options are not compatible with your application, you will need to use the Manual Settings information.
